Hurghada

One of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations, this beach city by the Red Sea is packed with things to see and do. With great weather all year round, this is a great city for some summer heat or balmy winter sun, and makes a fantastic base for exploring some of Egypt’s famous sites. Whether you want to explore Egypt’s incredible history, try your hand at water sports or simply soak up the sun, there is something for everyone.

  1. Take a day trip to Ancient Egypt. Hurghada is a great base to be able to head to some of Egypt’s top tourist attractions. In a day, it is possible to explore the Pyramids of Cairo or the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, or even take a trip to the River Nile.
  2. Make a splash at Makadi Water World. Take the kids to Egypt’s largest water park. With 50 rides from a 19m free fall to the lazy river, and a pirate-themed play area for the little ones, this will make a memorable day out and is perfect for the whole family.
  3. Learn to Scuba Dive. The Red Sea is famed for being one of the world’s best diving spots- and it’s easy to see why with its warm, crystal-clear water and colourful marine life to marvel at! Seasoned divers will be in their element here, but it is a great place to learn, with several diving schools running excursions with qualified instructors. Of course, snorkelling is fantastic too and is a cheaper option than a diving trip.
  4. Sunbathe the day away. If you simply want to relax and unwind in the sun, Hurghada offers gorgeous sandy beaches to do so! A trip to Mahmya Beach on Giftun Island is a must to experience paradise. Hop on a boat trip and sail over to this little island, keeping an eye out for dolphins, where you can dip in the turquoise water and relax under an umbrella, soaking up those rays.
  5. Quadbike through the desert. For the adventure seekers, experience a roaring ride through the sand dunes on a desert quad bike safari to a traditional Bedouin village. Here you can sip tea on Arabian carpets, try a camel ride or simply shop for some traditional souvenirs.
