Homeless World Cup teams touch down in Cardiff

Cardiff Airport is preparing to welcome 18 teams to Wales, who are arriving from countries around the world ahead of the Homeless World Cup, which takes place in the capital city between 27th July and 3rd August.

International teams and groups of volunteers from countries as far as Australia, South Korea, Mexico and Chile will connect at key hubs and arrive into Cardiff on scheduled flights over the next few days.

Deb Bowen Rees, CEO of Cardiff Airport, said: “This event is going to be so exciting for Wales, and we’re delighted that many of the teams are able to benefit from the connectivity offered by our airlines, particularly KLM and Qatar Airways.

“Cardiff is a proud sporting city, having hosted major events in the past like the Champions League Final 2017.

“This event is a real opportunity for Cardiff to play its part and support the excellent work delivered by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, and at Cardiff Airport our team are very much looking forward to extending a warm, Welsh welcome to our international visitors when they touch down in Wales.”
