We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Fire & Rescue Service here at Cardiff Airport. We have a number of full-time permanent positions for both qualified and experienced Firefighters and as new recruits.

Successful candidates will provide and assist in the provision of the firefighting and rescue both at Cardiff Airport and St Athan Aerodrome and to act as an integral part of an emergency response team to both airports. In addition, the role involves working with the community to educate and deliver fire safety to the benefit of the public.

That growth reflects the rapid developments in our catchment area and the Airport’s position as an important gateway for the economic developments in Wales acting as a key international port for visitors to the UK. We are currently in the phase of rebuilding our business following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cardiff Airport also manages the operations and maintenance at St Athan and Anglesey airfields.

 

About the role

The successful candidates will be part of the crucial Fire & Rescue department. We welcome applications from both qualified Firefighters and those wanting to train as new recruits.

As a Firefighter based at the Airport, you will be a part of a dynamic and supportive team, where every day is different. You will learn a wide range of skills, operate and maintain vehicles and equipment and deliver training in addition to dealing with aircraft related emergencies and a variety of special service calls. You will be expected to undertake both reactive and proactive roles, that involve contributing to the airport’s organisational aims, goals and objectives.

 

About you

We are looking for candidates who are motivated team players who have a strong work ethic. To succeed in the role, you will be required to possess great communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. The role of a Firefighter requires ongoing learning and development to ensure you are compliant in all aspects of the role. There will also be opportunities for further training to develop in your role.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be in possession of a valid full driving licence and willingness to attain a LGV driving licence.
  • Be physically fit: the role is physically demanding, and you will need to meet the required standard.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Successful competition of a Criminal Records Check will be required.

 

The Airport operates on a 24/7/365 basis, therefore flexibility and commitment will be required to attend at short notice for operational reasons, such as special events, emergencies and adverse weather conditions. The shift pattern for the role is 4 on, 4 off and this comprised of 2 days followed by 2 nights.

We are offering the opportunity to play a key role in the recovery and growth of Cardiff Airport as an Aviation Development Manager. This is a vital role, where the postholder will be responsible for directing the execution of strategic and tactical plans and partnerships to support and drive aviation development at Cardiff Airport.

About the role

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the Airport’s commercial relations for the incumbent and new aviation and aerospace partners working with the Airport. The postholder will be tasked with developing new and innovative ways to grow revenue from stimulating flight activities that utilise the airport facilities. This is a business development function and senior role that will work in collaboration with other executives and key staff, formulating and executing strategies and actions to ensure recovery and future growth for the Airport.

About you

Candidates must possess an in-depth knowledge and experience in airline network planning, transport and tourism, as well as the ability to acquire and develop strong commercial partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a track record in developing strong commercial relationships, negotiation and presentation skills. A detailed knowledge and understanding of the airline and aviation industry and the economic drivers within route development is essential, as well as the ability to analyse and identify market opportunities.

The core hours for this position will be Monday to Friday with a hybrid working approach, however some evenings and weekend work will be required as well as frequent travel.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cardiff Airport airfield has remained open as it is vital, as a key part of the national infrastructure that it remains in a position to support any essential flying for the UK whether it be freight, emergency, or other essential or legitimate travel.

St Athan airfield is also managed, operated and maintained by Cardiff Airport, and handles military, training and other non-passenger flights.

A full-time Technical Supervisor (Mechanically biased) position has become available within the Facilities team at Cardiff Airport, the national airport for Wales, with an immediate start.

The successful candidate will support delivery of an effective and efficient technical services and facilities maintenance function across each of the Cardiff Airport sites. Along with supervision of technical staff in order to maximise and ensure delivery of a complete maintenance service across the Cardiff Airport & St Athan sites.

Candidates must be able to work with the community to educate and deliver to the benefit of the public. The position is open to applicants who can demonstrate that they can lead and work effectively in a team environment, have strong communication skills, self-discipline and work the business core hours Monday to Friday.

We have two full-time vacancies in the position of FM Technician (Mechanical) within the Facilities team at Cardiff Airport, the national airport for Wales, with an immediate start.  

The successful candidates will provide and assist in the provision of the Electrical and Facilities Maintenance Services on behalf of Cardiff Airport & St Athan Aerodrome and act as an integral part of the aerodrome  & terminal Facilities Maintenance Team. They will primarily be responsible to help successful delivery of the planned maintenance regime, fulfilling industry and aviation statutory obligations, whilst also providing a breakdown reactive response harmonising both customer and organisational requirements across 2 airfields. 

Candidates must be able to work with the community to educate and deliver to the benefit of the public. The position is open to applicants who can demonstrate that they can work effectively in a team environment, have strong communication skills, self-discipline and work a rotating shift pattern.
